Day 15: The Everything 8 2013 Litter

Day 15 with their eyes beginning to open.  We are going to be in trouble very shortly around here with this crew seeing their way around.  I wonder how much trouble this bunch will find themselves getting in to.

``It also will not be long that I can not put them in the Blue Box recycling bin to clean their pen out.  We are praying for wonderful weather for them to enjoy the outdoor pen while we watch them grow before going to their Forever Homes.``

Still available for Forever Homes are:¸

4 Males:  2 Black Bi`s, 1 Red Bi and 1 Red Merle.  Each having amazing and unique markings.  One has tentatively been chosen, however we are not sure just which one at this time.  We will keep everyone posted.

Now for some more Video Fun of the Everything 8 bunch:

As you can tell by the end of this week we will be having more fun with this bunch of sweeties.

A Fetching Week

The Weather quite fetching this past week that we found time to actually have some time out for a bit of fetch.

A Lunette Update

We are "tickled pink" Lunette's Forever Home Mama, Jamilyn, is settled in their new home and has sent us some new Lunette photos !!!

"Lunette gets out and about, has chewies at her disposal, and apparently also gets to lounge in bed when she desires to."

"Really now how could you ever say "no" to a face like this?"

Thanks Jamilyn, we look forward to you sharing more of Lunette with us as she grows and keeps touching your heart every day.

Waking UP The Household

Prior to being put in the Blue Recycling Box today so I could clean out their quarters, I found myself once again amused by two of the "Everything 8" litter boys.  Keep an eye on the Black & White guy up in the top right hand corner ... hahaha !

"Into the Blue Box they went.  A cool photo capture of Mama Mercedes feeding lunch after the premises had been cleaned."

It is times like these I will miss when they have all left to be with their Forever Homes.

Gimme That Ball !

The weather has been so nice and dry the past week, we took some "time out" of our chores around here to play a little bit.  Bandit and Lexus were having themselves a bit of a competition as per their usual games.

Really who was the Winner between these two?  not I ... ha ! as holding a camera, throwing a ball and trying to stay on my perch was challenge enough.

Day 4: The Everything 8

I could stand for hours looking down at puppies at any age.  Looking down upon them somehow memorizes me and soothes my Soul.  Why is that ? the wonderment of Nature and Life at hand I suppose.

It was all I could do to tear myself away this morning, however I also enjoyed a few chuckles as well in my gazing moments.

Would you also have a difficult time tearing yourself away from this sight?

When to Tie Your Pooch

I recently had a telephone conversation with a prospective puppy buyer.  We were speaking back and forth about different puppy/dog scenarios.  I had mentioned about tying up a dog outside.  She had quite the "outburst" about this topic.

I quietly asked her if she would let me speak and explain.  Some people tend to jump all over the other without really listening to what that person has to say.  To be quite honest I have probably at some point in my life done the same the odd time, however with maturity I hope I have gotten better in this respect.

I am of the opinion that we should all try to subject our pets to as many situations as possible, as one never knows when they might be in an unexpected situation at any time throughout our, or our pets lives.

For example, my dogs have all been tied at one time or another for short periods of time.  I am very happy I started teaching them to be tied at a very early stage in their lives as there are times I have had to tie them at and away from home.

1)  When we went visiting to another's place where our dog was not allowed into their home, but it was no problem to tie outside in a shady spot while we had our visit;

2)  When we have gone camping (this is another great time when crate training has proven useful;  Really could anyone tell me what Campground is going to allow everyone's dog to run around at large?;

3)  When I have been outdoors gardening or otherwise occupied, however I want my dog(s) to be out enjoying the weather too, but can not keep a close watch on them for every minute (and we do know people it only takes a split second for a unseen disaster to occur when a cat or squirrel runs across a yard).

"Today I was out cutting the lawn.  I wanted Lexus to stay out this morning after we had ourselves a bit of time together, so she could continue to enjoy the day while I cut the lawn.  See how close the main Highway is to our house.  She could watch me and I could see her under the Maple tree while tied, as I cut the lawn.  She was barely tied out for 1/2 hour."

How can tying a dog be cruel when a person is looking after its safety?  When is it cruel to tie a dog out?  when it is tied day in and day out with absolutely no attention warranted to it in the way of socialization or human contact other then some food and water thrown its way from time to time.  What is the point of having  an animal as a companion if the person has no use for its companionship, hunting talents, or otherwise?

Hunters take great pride in their dogs, as did my father and grandfather.  Our beagle was tied at the back of the house with his dog house.  These were the days before all the fancy outdoor runs were affordable or common.  Our Tuckey was socialized every day with a fuss made over him when my dad fed him each day, or by one of us kids.  Every Saturday he jumped in the trunk of my dad's car, as they headed out to collect my Grandpa and his beagle, Scotty, then onto the bush Jack Rabbit hunting they went.  Those hunting dogs were their pride and joy.  I can still remember them bragging about what great hunting dogs those dogs had been.

These are my opinions.  While I expect others to take what they want and leave the rest, as I do myself in  respecting others opinions in return.

When tying a dog out for its safety, ensure the collar is secure that it can not slip it back from its head, and the clasp is secured to the collar.  You do not want to walk away and come back later to find your dog has gotten away and wandered off somewhere to where it could be hurt.   Always keep a check on the strength and conditions of your collars and leashes in case they require replacement from time to time.

NOTE:  Should someone ever be in a situation where their dog had to be tied, and the pooch had never been tied before it might be a very unpleasant situation in a strange place for a dog to know what was happening to him/her.

Then There Were Eight

"Between the time I had retired to bed last night with 6 pups having had been born, and my hubby, Rob, waking me to come look at 8 pups at 1:30 am ... it had been a long night resulting in 8 healthy puppies and one really happy Mama Mercedes."

"This morning was clean-up time with them all gently placed onto a towel into a recycling box while Bandit babysat.  He is the best babysitter we have around here."

"Out of the "Everything 8" puppies these are the 3 handsome boys available for Forever Homes.  One is a Red Tri, and his two brother's are both Black Tri's."

"Four babies had already been purchased by 1 pm this afternoon.  From Everything 8 down to then there were Three."

"With the whelping box all sanitized and clean, Mama Mercedes went back in to do her thing, which she is doing very well."

This was our very first day with The "Checkerboard Aussies" Everything 8 litter 2013.

A Mother's One Year Old Son

We had visitors yesterday.  Injaca of our Spectacular Six 2012 litter made a 2 1/2 hour drive one way to come visit with us.

"Injaca is a Blue Merle Male.  He was born on the 21st of March to Bandit & Lexus."

After lunch time, Injaca had himself some romping running time with his Mama Lexus.

"This boy still has a bit of growing to do before he catches up with his Mama."

"Just a tad frazzled looking after all that running around and wrestling time with the boy."

"Although Injaca got his father's good looks and colouring, you will notice he got his Mother's tongue .... oh my !"

"Much easier to shoot some photos after a few laps around the field are under their belts."

"Daddy Bandit got to come out to say "hello" to his boy after he had his time with Mama Lexus.  Yes that boy Injaca appears to take after his maternal Grandmother in the height department being a good inch taller then his Father."

"A fine looking boy Injaca is, who also has a wonderful Forever Home."

Thank you for visiting us Injaca.  We look forward to the next time we are able to get together.

The Soon To Be Parents

"Our poor Mercedes girl is almost as wide as she is long.  She is pretty much is giving me the "could a girl get a bit of privacy around here?" look."

"Daddy to be, Buddy is looking pretty layed back with his legs stretched into the "froggie" position .. he isn't looking too concerned about anything, is he?"

Believe, you and me, once those puppies arrived the WHOLE World will almost know about it ... stay tuned.
