Happy Days ! Puppy & Semah Update

It has been a very happy day this Mother's Day at our home.  The very last two pups of the Extraordinary 8 2014 Litter got themselves Forever Homes today !  In four weeks time, one will be going to Thunder Bay, and the other down to Waterdown.  I am very happy for them. & their new Humans.  Very exciting it all is.

The feeding of solid foods could not be going better as anyone can tell from these photos ...

NEWS FLASH !  Semah update.

Semah with his new family members, & Semah after being pampered at the Groomers.

Own Carol and John's hearts have obviously melted and they are both smitten with our Semah, since the "no dog on the couch" rule when right out the door barely in a mere two weeks time.

We are very happy owners with all this goodness of Checkerboard Aussie lovers !

The First Solids

Mama Lexus has been getting a little tired of the feedings I noticed with her "Extraordinary 8" crew, so I notice them starting to whimper a little bit.  Since they just turned 4 weeks old it was time to break out the "solids" for them.  Today was that day.

It is about  this age, or a few days after 4 weeks of age, that there is usually one, in this case two, that make it over the "wall" onto Mamas side.  It looks like it was Buddy & Blu who made it over.  The Red Tri Female & Black Tri Male are the two amazing pups still available for a Forever Home.

I coloured coordinated the feeding schedule to keep it a little more organized and to give them each a little more elbow room, so to speak.

Merles went first, Tri's second, with the exception of Buddy who seems to be the piggy of the bunch.  He finished up in short work, then transferred back to the other side of the box.

Next plan is for them all to be de-wormed.  I have lots of help tomorrow that that will be the scheduled date for that to happen.  From here on in they will be growing like "bad weeds" and then some.  Stay tuned ....

Beyond The "SPOTS"

We had a rather late phone call the other night asking if we had any pups with "spots".  I am certain within that conversation I did make the statement that colour does not make the breed (or dog, not sure as I had been awakened from a dead sleep at 10:30 am when this call had came in).

The next day I posted to The Checkerboard Aussies, Australian Shepherd Dogs' Facebook page the following:

When choosing a breed of dog, please do the research first. A dog should not be purchased based alone on its colour, but their temperament, health background, energy level, etc ... should someone buy a dog on their coat or eye colour alone, then find they are more then they could bargain for down the road in the training & energy level, then who looses out? the owner or the dog? PLEASE do the Research. NOTE: A Merle Australian Shepherd is no more loving and loyal then a Red or Black Tri. Colour does not make the Dog.

The following photos are some of our "non-spotted (or in other words Tri & Bi coloured) pups from our past litters, who are all up to standard, not only the intelligent department, but all in the giving much love department.

Two Black Bi Pups, Red Bi, Henry, Black Bi, Ozzie, Black Tri, McGoo & Red Tri, Sprite.

And most recently our 1 year old Black Tri, Semah, who was re-homed to a wonderful family only a short week ago.

Our Merles are indeed all unique in colour, however our Red & Black Tri's or Black Bi's are equal in every other respect, as well as their own right to their colours.

Once again, Colour does NOT make the Breed.
